A tribute to Ben Hogan - Gain more power Created on 12/1/2007 12:00:00 AM
On the way down, many amateurs try to control the shot by making an arms-only swing. This causes them to lunge toward the target with the upper body, resulting in poor contact and a weak shot. The lower body should initiate the downswing. The hips should unwind and push toward the target to generate power. Imagine there's a pane of glass in front of you. On the downswing, try to touch the pane with your belly button while keeping your head back.
